As we all know, bridges provide safe passages for people and vehicles over bodies of water, valleys, and roads for hundreds of years. However safe they might be, it’s always a little exhilarating to cross them. Safety aside, we found the world’s most terrifying bridges. For the worry warts and people afraid of heights, this might be as close as you get to one of these bridges. For the adrenaline junkies, this just might become your next bucket list.

This valley in Japan is famous for the several bridges made completely out of vine. These bridges have been around for hundreds of years but have since been reinforced with steel cables and new wood to preserve it. Nevertheless, crossing this bridge is no relaxing matter. Every step you take comes with the dreaded swinging sensation.

The builders of this bridge claim that to cross it, you need “nerves as strong as the steel cables from which it hangs.” Of course the bridge is completely safe, but still suspends 1,500ft above a glacier in the Swiss Alps. Stomach churning to say the least.
